I love the church because my history and destiny is the church. I asked Jesus to save me at the age of eight. I said yes to His call on my life to preach when I was seventeen years old. For thirty years I have preached, proclaimed and taught the Word of God. Fifteen of those years I have been a pastor.
I believe that the church is God’s creative force in the earth. History has proven this. When the church has been free to create, to influence and to release the creative Word of God societies and cultures have been changed, lives have been transformed and great innovations have been created to benefit the world.
Paul the apostle writes about the creativity of the church in 1 Corinthians 12-13. The church is a Body of members. Every member has a gift. The Body, known as the church, is united by relationship and fellowship. Although the church is united it is diverse because of the different gifts that each member has. When each member creates in his or her gifts God is revealed as Creator through His creative body.
Paul was creative and had many gifts. In chapter 13:1-3 Paul gives his creative resume:
1. He spoke with the tongues of men and angels.
2. He had the gift of prophecy.
3. He had faith to move mountains.
4. He fed the poor.
5. He gave his body to be burned. This is metaphorical for living a life of sacrifice.
The church, the body of Jesus is creative when it lives in Faith, Hope and Love. These three attributes creates an atmosphere where creativity flows.
FAITH: Faith is having confidence in God and His Word. Faith is coming into alignment with God’s reality. Faith stirs the imagination where ideas are created. Creative ideas become seeds that brings forth harvest and create your future.
HOPE: Hope is waiting for a result. It is having expectation for what is coming. Hope enables you to create consistently because you see the end. Hope keeps you from quitting because you know the end is success.
LOVE: Love is the leader. It is the reason why I create. It is the reason why I am free to be creative. Love governs my actions and attitude. Love is the life that gives freedom for the church to be creative.
Let’s agree in prayer that the church becomes the creative community that God desires.
