Integral to you operating as a Scribe is knowing your identity. You must know who You are as A Scribe so that you can walk fully in your Call and Office. Ezra is the model for the Present Day Scribe. In Ezra 7:6 it says, “this Ezra came up from Babylon; and he was a skilled Scribe in the Law of Moses, which the Lord God of Israel had given. The king granted him all his request, according to the hand of the Lord his God was upon him.”
Ezra knew who he was. And he is our model to know who we are in our calling. So we first consider what is a Scribe? Quoting from The Scribal Anointing written by Apostle Theresa Johnson is this definition, “By contemporary definition a scribe is a passionate writer, journalist, editor or teacher.”
Your identity as a Scribe is the root of who you are in God. From your identity springs forth everything that you have been called to do. From Ezra’s root sprung forth the books of Ezra and Nehemiah (considered in Jewish scholarship to be one book) and 1 and 2 Chronicles. Ezra sought to master the Law of God, to live by it and to teach it to others and he did . When you know who you are then what you are called to do will be plain to you and others. Many are trying to do the work of God but they don’t know who they are. They seek to imitate others because they don’t know that they are an original created and sent by God. No one can be you or can accomplish what you are called to do. Stop wasting time trying to duplicate your favorite star and be who you are created to be. Generations will be touched by the expression of your unique identity.
Because Ezra knew who he was when the time came for him to move he moved. Movement in God always follows identity. God will sometime move you to a place for you to discover your identity, this is the move for discovery, but when you move after knowing who you are that is the move of destiny. Ezra left Babylon and journeyed to Jerusalem. Ezra’s exodus out of Babylon is a beautiful prophetic picture of the Scribe whose eyes have been opened to where he is and where God is calling him to be. Babylon is a picture of the world. Ezra the Scribe was imprisoned in Babylon. But one day God moved the heart of the king to release Ezra from captivity.
Like Ezra there are many Scribes, many Poets, many actors, dancers, worshippers who are enslaved in Babylon. They are bound in the Babylonian mindset which says make a name for yourself. Chase after fame and fortune. Sell your creativity to the highest bidder. Use your gifts for selfish gain.
In this hour hear the Word of the Lord. he is calling His creative people to come out of Babylon and come to Jerusalem. Jerusalem is a prophetic picture of the kingdom of God. God is calling you to His kingdom where He has use for your gifts for His glory.
In Babylon the god is Satan. He is seducing you and deceiving you to serve yourself. To worship your gift. To seek the worship of man who bow at your feet and applaud you for your act of entertainment. Satan is luring you to sit on your throne and seek the worship of fans and other creative artists who desires to have what you have. If Satan can get you seated on your own throne then when he comes to you and offers you the kingdoms of this world it will be easy for you to say to the temptation because you will be so addicted to the glory you have already experienced that you will seek more glory. Many creative artist are addicted to glory, even those who are deceived in believing that they are serving God while they serve themselves.
Come out of Babylon and come to Jerusalem. Come out of the world and come to God. Move in God and discover your destiny. Shalom.
