You have a story that is worth recording. You are a story that is worth saving.
Today I want to share with you Four of the Seven purposes for Journaling. And next week I’ll finish the purposes. These purposes will help you to understand WHY Journaling is so empowering. To magnify this point I’m going to use seven words, all of them have the prefix RE to establish my point. The prefix RE means, again and again. Journaling means to expereince your life again and again. To keep moving backward so that you can move forward.
I live on an avenue that is on a steep incline and sometimes in order for me to drive up the hill I’ll have to back up in REverse to go forward. That what journaling is. So let’s go.
1. RECORD: When you record you are taking ownership over your life story. You own it by keeping it. You keep it by recording it. You bind your story together, organizing it and storing it and then you visit it again and again for instruction and inspiration.
2. REMEMBER: When you visit your story you are REcalling the memories of yesterday. It’s like going to your favorite REstaurant to eat your favorite meal. You enjoy the atmosphere and the food and it causes you to REflect on good times as you have a good time. Your journal is a REcord of you REmembering the past.
3. REMIND: You become aware of past experiences. You start to see the path for your life. Where you are is connected to where you’ve been. You REmember desires that you may have forgotten. You Remember dreams that have died. Your journal activates your mind by causing you to visit again and again the important things recorded from your mind.
4. RECOLLECT: When You are seeking a solution, an ideas for a project, a book, an article you go back to your journal to assemble today what you assembled yesterday. Your journal is a great record for gathering materials for future projects. When you first began to journal you gather together the scattered events of your life, you bring them together in one place.
Next week we will conclude these seven purposes for journaling.
