A couple of weeks ago I began writing my seventh book, all of them have not yet been published, This book is about my thirty years in the ministry. I’m at the end of year thirty. On March 25 I will begin my thirty-first year in ministry.
In this book I’m writing about thirty things I’ve learned in ministry. Why the number thirty? thirty is a prophetic number, it reveals new beginnings in service, maturity in preparation. It represents coming out when you have been fully prepared for your journey to destiny. Joseph was thirty years old when he stood before Pharaoh and Pharaoh made Prime Minister over Egypt (Gen 41:46). The sons of the tribe of Levi were eligible to enter the ministry in the tabernacle at age thirty (Numbers 4:3). Jesus started His ministry at the age of 30.
The thirty things that I’m led to share is really the things that have greatly shaped me in ministry. It has been exciting revisiting my history in ministry but it has been emotional as well. As I read through my journals and compose this book I have experienced many emotions. In one section I wrote about coming to grips with my call to preach and in that same time sequence I had to deal with the distance between me and mother. It was painful to write about me and mother. But God used my call to preach to restore my mother to the church, where she faithfully served Him until she died in 2003. And that began the healing in our relationship.
Another time I wrote about was the transition between my first pastorate in West Virginia and the second pastorate in Virginia. I made a declaration of faith regarding our move and by faith it happen. It was a scary time, a time of doubt and a time of faith. I didn’t stand in faith, i struggled in faith but God honored my faith. That was a great time and an emotional time to remember.
Although I have recorded a lot of pain in my life I have seen God heal me. . I have seen the healing in the pages of my journal.
Keeping a journal and recording your life is a great tool and a great way to preserve the treasures of your life. I plan on completing my book by next week and releasing it next month. I hope that you’ll get a copy.
What experiences are you recording and what emotions are you experiencing in your journal? Share it with me and let me know how I can help you.
