Joanne wiped the tears from her face. She was embarrassed because she was moved by Lizette’s words, a woman that she didn’t know.
“How do you know about me? And what makes you say what you just said.”
Lizette nodded her head with an understanding smile. ‘Holy Spirit speaks and He shows me things.”
“So you’re one of those prophets huh?” Joanne said with contempt in her voice.
“I’m not a prophet but I do hear God. And that’s not strange Joanne. Every believer can hear God.”
Joanne wanted to argue with Lizette but she couldn’t. Lizette’s demeanor was so different that Joanne didn’t have the nerve.
“So you’re saying that I can hear God?”
“Sure you can. And once you open your heart to His voice your life will never be the same. That’s what happened to me nine years ago.”
Joanne was interested in hearing Lizette’s story but she was afraid to. She thanked Lizette and got up and walked away.
That is one strange woman but what if she’s right? Joanne wondered.
Joanne wanted to know more but she was uneasy with Lizette. But there was a something happening in her. Like a yearning, a strong interest to hear Lizette tell her more.
A few days later Lizette was in the break room drinking a coffee. Joanne walked over to her table.
“Can I sit down? Joanne asked.
Joanne sat down. She waited.
“What’s bothering you Joanne?”
“I’m impressed you remember my name. And I’m sorry that I don’t remember yours.”
“That’s okay. My name’s Lizette.”
“Thank you. When we sat together the other day you said something happened to you nine years ago. I want to hear about that.”
(More of Joanne’s story will be released next week).
