It is important and vital that we develop attitudes that causes us to succeed. Attitude #4 is Gratitude. Gratitude is the appreciation of things, benefits and kindness given or shown to you.
I love this quote from Lionel Hampton said, “Gratitude is memory stored in the heart.” Being grateful is taking a look back and seeing all the goodness that was ever shown to you. Why is it that most people look back and only see the pain and hurt? It maybe that they don’t have an attitude of gratitude. Gratitude gives you a different vision as look in the same time sequence, not ignoring the things that hurt you but seeing the things that blessed you.
How does a person develop the attitude of gratitude? By remembering every act of kindness that was ever shown to you. Take a moment and remember someone’s kindness to you. Remember the kind words spoken to you. Return mentally to the season of Thanksgiving and Christmas that was a couple of months ago and remember all the good feelings you experienced as you enjoyed family and friends. As you received gifts.
In going forward gratitude is a shield. It protects you from bitterness, entitlement and unthankfulness. Bitterness comes when you don’t receive what we thought you should have received. Entitlement comes when you think you deserve everything that you received. Unthankfulness comes when you no longer appreciate what you receive.Place the shield of gratitude over your heart.
A grateful person is a person who will go through doors open to the future. Positive energy will always create the future that you desire. Gratitude is the key to the door.
When dark days come into your life gratitude is the sunshine that drives the clouds away.
Remember and be grateful! Live and Succeed because you are grateful for every kindness and you are grateful for every opportunity.
